The final day of the AFS Shepparton tourney in Victoria saw both teams in the plate and main draw quarterfinals. The U-13’s fought back from a 2-0 deficit to draw the game at full time only to fall short on the 6th penalty during a nail biting shootout.
The U-12s finished a hard fought match with a 3-1 loss.
Scorers on the day were Ruby Gurnick (2), Caleb Harvey (2), Aimee Lindsay, Braedon Hills and Jackson Bigwood for the U-13s and Archie Knox for the U-12s.
Previously, on day 5 of the RHFA Melbourne tour, both sides played twice across all three Shepparton tourney sites. One win and three losses were recorded with the scorers for the U-12s being Archie Knox, Rayhaan Adil and Ollie Taylor with Taj Randhawa scoring for the U-13s.
During a coaches’ meet and greet, RHFA coaches were able to meet and chat with former England international and Manchester City player Micah Richards as well as have a close up look at the 6 trophy’s MCFC currently hold.
Thank you to Cafe Umago and the wonderful Garden View Cafe for their hospitality during our time here in Melbourne.
The academy thanks those parents who travelled to Australia to watch and those family members and friends who supported the sides from home. Also a huge thank you to Travel 4 Football and AFS for another outstanding tournament.
