Members of the Ricki Herbert Football Academy U-10 squad have completed a successful six-game tour of Melbourne.
The team enjoyed their trip on and off the pitch, experiencing the sights of Melbourne as well as taking part in a tournament at Shepparton.
After their arrival in Victoria, the team played two warm-up games ahead of their tournament, winning both.
RHFA beat Whittlesea FC 5-2 with Arnav Naiker notching a brace of goals, and with other goals from Noah Amerika, Deepan and Noah L.
Naiker scored both goals in the team’s 2-1 win against Williamstown Soccer Club.
In the tournament, the side beat GV Suns 6-0 with Naiker grabbing a hat-trick and with other goals from Oshana Odisho, Brock Ironside and Noah Amerika.
The U-10s lost 3-2 to Sandringham in a close match, their goals coming from Naiker and an own goal.
Boxhill beat RHFA 5-1 on the second day of the tournament, with Naiker again being the scorer for the U-10s.
Beaumaris beat RHFA 3-1, with Naiker’s goal ensuring his record of scoring in every game stayed intact.
Coaches Shaun O’Brien and Sammy Negash were delighted with the team’s efforts and made the following end-of-tour awards:
Most Valuable Player (MVP): Brock Ironside
Golden Boot: Arnav Naiker (10 goals in six games)
Most Improved Player: Noah Gregory
