New coaching role off to a winning start

Kale Herbert’s latest senior coaching assignment is off to a winning start as his Taupo AFC side won their first WaiBOP Championship fixture 4-0 at Cambridge’s John Kerkhof Park.

With father Ricki watching from the technical area, Kale’s team took an early lead before losing a man to a red card. Despite that setback, Taupo emphasised their ability with a strong second half display.

Ricki Herbert flew back from the Maldives, where he is national coach, in time to get to Cambridge to watch Taupo in action. It was a true family occasion as Ricki’s father Clive joined the bench for the second half.
