About 40 talented young players from all around New Zealand were put through their paces on day one of the Ricki Herbert Football Academy’s National Training Camp in Cambridge.
Aged between 11 and 17, players have come as far north as Whangarei and as far south as Invercargill to join academy founder Ricki Herbert and his team of coaches.
After an easy session yesterday afternoon, to blow away the travel to the camp, the players had their first evening dinner at St Peter’s School before settling into their accommodation in the glorious grounds of one of New Zealand’s finest schools.
After breakfast at Cambridge Football Club, the players went through a series of drills and games. The sun came out, providing ideal conditions for a successful day on the training pitches.
The players will be together till Thursday when they depart for home.
