Herbert ‘thrilled’ with progress of Cambridge’s Future Reds programme

RHFA founder Ricki Herbert says he’s ‘thrilled’ with the progress being made by players taking part in Cambridge FC’s Future Reds programme.

“Numbers are up, players are enjoying themselves and we’re all benefitting from knowing how the programme works,” the former All Whites and Wellington Phoenix coach said.

The Future Reds programme is in its second full year after being launched in 2017 through a partnership between Cambridge FC and the Ricki Herbert Football Academy.

“It took a while for players and parents to see the benefits of a structured programme but we’re hitting our straps this year,” Herbert said.

He was particularly pleased with the progress of the Skills Programme, designed for players invited to participate because of the potential they have shown as players.

The Player Development Programme, open to all junior players, was also going well with strong numbers taking part.
