Academy founder Ricki Herbert has been confirmed as the New Zealand agent for an international sports management group that represents professional footballers.

WSM Marketing & Management has appointed the former All Whites and Wellington Phoenix coach to seek talented players from New Zealand who have what it takes to develop a professional career.

“It’s a great opportunity for me,” said Herbert, “but also for young players who are looking to make careers overseas.”

Herbert says he’ll also be in a position to help further the careers of promising coaches.

WSM is based in Wattenscheid, Germany, but has agents on different continents.

These include former Brazilian international Kléber, based in South America, while current Zimbabwe international Justice Majabvi represents WSM in Africa.

In the UK, WSM’s agent is Mark McGhee, a former Scottish international who played for Newcastle United, Celtic and Hamburger SV, and has managed various UK clubs over the past 20 years.
