The Ricki Herbert Football Academy congratulates four players who have been part of the academy and have since represented their country at U-17 age group level.
The four travelled to India for the U-17 FIFA World Cup.
“We’re delighted for the players,” RHFA founder Ricki Herbert said. “These players have attended our academy at various times over the past few years and they deserve their success.”
The players are goalkeeper Zac Jones, defender Liberato Cacace and midfielders Elijah Just and Oliver Whyte.
New Zealand were one of 24 nations at the tournament in India.
The players were not the only connection between the U-17 World Cup and the RHFA, as former All Whites coach Herbert also had a role.
He was appointed to FIFA’s Technical Study Group for the tournament.
