THE RICKI Herbert Football Academy has announced details of a National Training Camp for boys and girls aged 12-17, to be held in Cambridge in April. The five-day camp will give young players the chance to immerse themselves in a full football programme aimed at helping them understand how they can develop on and off the pitch.

National coach Ricki Herbert brought in a clutch of new players to help Maldives beat Cambodia 3-2 in their group game at the BangaBandhu Gold Cup in Bangladesh. Herbert left out seven players who took the Maldives to the semi-finals of the SAFF Suzuki Cup tournament in India, bringing in youngsters as he tries to develop the national side of the island nation.

Manukau Courier/Papakura Courier: Former All Whites and Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert has expanded his Football Academy by setting up a Development Talent Centre in conjunction with Papatoetoe United Football Club. The academy has started training sessions at the club’s facilities at Kolmar, the sports hub at the Papatoetoe Recreation Ground.
