THE STAR striker who has successfully lead the line for Maldives football team until now, has claimed that current Head Coach Ricki Herbert is the best coach he’s ever worked with.

Ashfaq, who announced earlier this month that this will be his last SAFF Suzuki Cup, is looking to play a vital role in helping the young squad reach its full potential.

Speaking to the media before the tournament in a press conference held at Hotel Vivanta By Taj in Trivandrum, the captain of Maldives spoke about the team’s preparation for the future.

“With the combination of young and experienced players, and with the time we’ve got, we’ve prepared well for the future.” said Ashfaq. “I’m changing the look of Maldives football for the future”

Ashfaq holds the record for most number of goals scored in SAFF tournaments and with the big announcement that this will be his last SAFF Suzuki Cup his fans will be looking to see a few more balls hit the back of the net from the forward.
