An U-13 boys’ team representing the RH3 Football Academy has completed a successful tour to Australia, combining playing with visits to football venues and tourist sites.
After arriving in Sydney, the squad had a morning training session before visiting Olympic Park, the stadium used for hosting A-League finals and international matches.
The team played Blacktown Workers SFC, winning 3-2 in a hard-fought game.
The touring party headed to the Central Coast , where the team played a mini-tournament with academy teams representing the Central Coast Mariners, the current A-League champions.
RH3’s team played three x 30-minute games back-to-back against Mariners’ academy teams made up from U-13 and U-14s.
The games were challenging but the three tight losses showed how fine the margins can be when playing quality opposition.
The day ended with a cool-down session at the local pool.
The next day provided RH3 to play an academy side from A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers, a game our U-13 side won 1-0.
Then followed a special training session with coaches from the A-League side, and a chance to experience the club’s top-class facilities.
The tourists finished their July 2023 tour with a sightseeing trip around Sydney and a visit to the Ultra Football retail outlet.
The trip provided opportunities for the players to improve on the pitch but also to enjoy the social development that comes from travelling together and building friendships with teammates.
The academy thanks the players’ families and supporters for making the tour possible, and we acknowledge Australia’s Travel4Football team for helping plan the trip.
