The Ricki Herbert Football Academy congratulates four players who have been part of the academy and are now heading to India to play in this year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup.
“We’re delighted for the players and wish them the very best for the upcoming tournament,” RHFA founder Ricki Herbert said. “These players have attended our academy at various times over the past few years and they deserve their success.”
The players are goalkeeper Zac Jones, defender Liberato Cacace and midfielders Elijah Just and Oliver Whyte.
New Zealand are one of 24 nations going to the tournament which takes place in India from October 6-28.
Interestingly, the players will not be the only connection between the U-17 World Cup and the RHFA, as former All Whites coach Herbert will also have a role.
He’s been appointed to FIFA’s Technical Study Group for the tournament.
